Kashmiri Walnut Oil
The heavier one. Meant for overnight.
Richer and slower to absorb than almond oil, with a distinctly nutty scent. This is the oil for dry hair and a proper overnight treatment rather than a quick morning application.

Which Oil You Want
Heavier is the point, not a drawback
People often try walnut oil expecting it to behave like almond oil and find it sits on the hair longer. That is the oil doing what it is meant to. It is thicker, it absorbs more slowly, and it stays on the strand for longer — which is precisely why it suits dry, rough or winter hair.
If you want something to put on in the morning before work, almond oil is the right choice. Walnut oil is for the night before a wash, and for hair that needs more than a light conditioning.
Important
Walnut oil goes off faster than other oils
"Sharp or paint-like smell means the bottle has turned. Do not use it."
Walnut carries more oil than almost any nut and that oil is more fragile than most. Left on a sunny shelf or near a stove, a bottle of walnut oil will turn stale considerably faster than a bottle of almond oil would.
A healthy bottle smells nutty and slightly sweet. If it ever smells sharp, bitter or faintly like paint, that is rancidity and the bottle should be thrown out rather than used on your hair or skin. Keep it closed, out of sunlight, and refrigerate it through summer if you get through it slowly.

Using It
Give it the night
Warm a small amount between your palms — less than you would use of a lighter oil.
Massage into the scalp and work through to the ends, concentrating on the dry lower half.
Leave for an hour or overnight, then wash properly. Being heavier, it needs a real wash rather than a rinse.
On skin, use very little and at night. If your skin is oily, use almond oil instead. Patch test first.

Frequently Asked Questions
Good to know
How is it different from almond oil?
Walnut oil is richer and heavier, absorbs more slowly and has a stronger nutty scent. Walnut suits dry hair and overnight treatments; almond suits everyday and facial use.
Why does it need to be kept cool?
Walnut oil turns stale faster than most nut oils. Keep the bottle closed, out of sunlight and away from heat. Some people refrigerate it in summer.
How do I use it on hair?
Warm a small amount, massage into the scalp and work through to the ends, then leave for an hour or overnight. Being heavier, it usually needs a proper wash afterwards.
Can I use it on my face?
It can be used, but it is rich — use very little and preferably at night. If your skin is oily or easily congested, almond oil is the lighter choice.
Does it have a strong smell?
A distinctly nutty scent, stronger than almond oil, which is normal. A sharp or paint-like smell means the oil has gone stale and should not be used.
