Why we started
Most "Kashmiri" saffron never sees Kashmir
It gets stretched with safflower and dyed thread. Dry fruits get bought off a wholesale market and relabelled with a valley address.
The growers and artisans who actually do the work see very little of what the buyer finally pays. Kashmir Online Store exists to close that gap.
We are based in Namblabal, Pampore — where the fields turn purple for a few weeks each autumn and the whole town smells of drying stigma. Everything is graded and packed here, then dispatched from here. Not from a warehouse elsewhere with a Kashmiri label stuck on the box.
It is a small operation, and that cuts both ways. We cannot promise same-day delivery out of a metro warehouse. But when you message us, you are talking to the people who packed your order.
Where we draw the line
Four things we will not do
This trade runs on claims nobody checks. These are the lines we hold, even when holding them costs a sale.

We will not fake the origin
Cashews, dates and pistachios do not grow in Kashmir. We sell them, and the product page says where they actually come from — instead of calling them Kashmiri because it sells better.

We will not call machine work handmade
Most of our kaftans and kurtis carry machine embroidery in traditional Kashmiri patterns, and each product page states that plainly. The few genuinely hand-worked pieces are identified as such.

We will not make medical claims
Our foods are food and our skincare is cosmetic. What something does for a health condition is a question for a doctor, not a shopping website.

We will not invent certifications
Where a batch is lab tested, the details sit on the product page. Where it is not, we say nothing rather than borrowing a badge we have not earned.
The arithmetic
Why saffron costs what it does
Crocus flowers open for a few weeks between late October and early November. They are picked at dawn, before the sun opens them fully, and the three red stigmas are separated by hand the same day — a job done sitting on the floor, flower by flower.
It takes roughly 150 flowers to produce one gram of dried saffron. No machine has replaced that step. When you see saffron priced suspiciously low, that arithmetic is what has been skipped.
We sell Mongra grade — the deep red stigma with the yellow style removed, which is where the colour and the aroma actually live.

Our facility is about twenty minutes from Srinagar airport, on the Srinagar–Jammu highway. You are welcome to visit — watch the saffron being graded, compare grades side by side, do the warm-water test yourself, and taste before you buy.
During the harvest window in late October and early November, the fields around us are in bloom. Tell us in advance and we will point you to the right ones at the right hour.
