A kurti is a tunic worn over trousers; a Kashmiri kurti carries the floral embroidery motifs Kashmir is known for — most recognisably the Aari style, a flowing, hooked-needle chain stitch that traces vines and blossoms across the neckline and yoke. (Kashmir's other famous styles are Sozni, a fine flat needlework, and Crewel, a bolder wool-thread chain stitch.)
