Short Kashmiri Kaftans

The fabric

Soft cotton and poly-cotton — breathable and light, ideal for Indian summers and daily wear. The weave holds the embroidery neatly without feeling heavy.

Caring for it

• Cold hand wash, separately for the first wash
• Mild detergent — no bleach, no harsh soaking
• Do not wring; press out water gently
• Dry in shade to keep colours fresh
• Low iron on the reverse, avoiding the embroidery

Everyday & office

A Kashmiri kurti is easy, modest ethnic wear for daily life — the embroidered yoke does the work, so the rest can stay simple.

• Short kurti — with jeans, leggings or cigarette pants
• Long kurti — with palazzos or straight pants for office and daily wear
• Layered — over a slip or with a light stole in cooler weather

Festive & occasion

Dress the same kurti up for festivals, pujas and as wedding-guest wear — an easy Indo-Western look with minimal effort.

• Festive — with juttis, jhumkas and a bindi
• Guest wear — palazzo or sharara for a dressier line
• Casual — flats and a tote for brunch or travel

Made & shipped from Kashmir

Described exactly as it is

Machine threadwork is called machine threadwork; cotton and poly-cotton are named as they are. The one genuine hand piece is flagged as hand-worked. No inflated claims — that's the whole idea.
