Instead of separate motifs placed at intervals, the vines link into each other and run continuously — curling out of one flower and into the next, so the pattern becomes a single connected network across the whole garment.
Look closely and there is more in it than florals. Small ivory birds sit inside the curls of the vine, along with buds, five-petal blossoms and fine paisleys. The placket and collar carry their own narrow repeating band, and each sleeve ends in a large paisley worked into the cuff — details that a simpler design would have skipped.

Matka silk is not a wash-at-home fabric. Water flattens its slub, can leave permanent watermarks on the olive ground, and wringing a densely embroidered panel pulls the threadwork out of shape. Dry clean only — no machine wash, no soaking, no bleach.
Hang it on a broad-shouldered hanger rather than folding it, so the shoulders keep their line and the embroidery does not crease. Keep it out of direct sunlight, which fades olive faster than most shades, and if it needs pressing, iron on the reverse at low heat with a cloth over the threadwork.
