Kashmiri Aari work is usually seen spread across a stole or a kurta, where there is room for large paisleys and long sweeping vines. On something the size of a clutch, the artisan has to solve a harder problem: fit a complete, balanced design into a palm-sized panel without it looking cramped or cut off.
The solution here is a change of scale rather than a change of design. Small five-petal blossoms in cream and apricot sit alongside larger fan-shaped blooms in mustard, all linked by fine brown vines that curl to fill the gaps. The flap carries its own arrangement, and the body below carries a second one that reads correctly whether the flap is open or closed.

Unlike a stole, a clutch cannot be dry cleaned or soaked — it has a zip, a stiffened body and a lining that water will ruin. Spot clean with a dry cloth only. For a mark on the embroidery, dab gently with a barely damp cloth and let it air dry away from heat.
